Idol

American Idol has produced many stars, and in the same respect, many crappy singers, in its years of existence. Up until this year I was one of those people who was like "yea, i watch the bad singers the first four episodes, then don't watch it again". But now, I have been transformed. I love telling Phil Stacey he was "pitchy" and critiquing his performance along with everyone in my family. I also love hearing Paula slurring her words while everyone debates whats actually in her coca-cola cup. I have come to realize that the reasons everyone enjoys American Idol are numerous. The purpose of this blog is to list a few of the highlights.

1. America feels in control, powerful, and they can express their opinion every week
2. Simon says what everyone is really thinking but won't say because they have a soul
3. Chris Sligh
4. The results constantly make for an easy icebreaker
5. The fact that a 17 year old (Jordin Sparks) can be the front runner for the competition (scratch that, I just watched her sing Living on a Prayer)
6. It is great for the family

Your Broken Bones

You're skipping words
with syntax like a left turn
Walking like an explosion
you wash away what you took so long to grow

You are tired
let me fix your broken bones
Fall apart whenever you want
i will piece you back together

i heard your thoughts in time signatures
composed on the broken white lines
so stark against the asphalt
youre hiding nothing

You are tired
let me fix your broken bones

It's ok, you're safe
It's ok, you're safe

John Mayer is so awkward

One mile to every inch of
Your skin like porcelain
One pair of candy lips and
Your bubblegum tongue

And if you want love
We'll make it
Swim in a deep sea
Of blankets
Take all your big plans
And break 'em
This is bound to be awhile

Your body is a wonderland
Your body is a wonder (I'll use my hands)
Your body is a wonderland

Something 'bout the way the hair falls in your face
I love the shape you take when crawling towards the pillowcase
You tell me where to go and
Though I might leave to find it
I'll never let your head hit the bed
Without my hand behind it

1). Dumbest song ever
2). Dumbest extended candy metaphor ever
3). I totally paid 130 dollars for legit tickets to see him and Ben Folds at the Hollywood Bowl

Check out this sweet can of Fresca I made in Microsoft Paint

So say I am making a legit playlist...

Ok, so we all know summer is around the corner. Once in a while he pops out just to say a sly "O, hey" before he goes back around the metaphorical corner I like to call spring. Now for these wonderful days, I really need a playlist. There is nothing better than bumping ill tunes while your windows are down and the sun is cascading onto your face (see image 1). So, on my quest to make this legit playlist, I have a few songs solidified. But a few is not near enough, so I am asking the blogging community to help me on my journey to an awesome playlist.
1. Steal My Kisses-Ben Harper
2. Catch My Disease-Ben Lee
3. January-Avner
4. Big Trucks-Pedro the Lion
5. Girl-Beck
6. Earthquakes and Sharks-Brandtson
7. L.A.-Elliot Smith
Give me some suggestions for those days that everyone loves.

Eh?

Eh? better?

Stole this from Mr. Brian Hurst

Let me know which one you like better, or if you like it at all. You can also suggest combinations (i.e. writing in the same place as that picture, but the colors from this picture) This, or some other design, will be a shirt in the near future, so your opinion matters! Its obviously very rough draftish, seeing as I used Brian's drawing (without him knowing, thanks by the way) and added some writing in microsoft paint. I know, real artistic of me. O, and you can probably tell the differences in color, I just used the trust ol eyeball to try and get the colors to match. Please let me know what you think!

If I were crazy, I'd get this song to play at my funeral

I swear I dont normally think about songs that I would like to have mourners tap their toes with at my funeral, but this little number is just happy. And for some reason it's a song that makes me think "o, everythings alright".

And plus, the guys from The Early November have a really interesting story (wikipedia it). They took pay cuts to make their last cd, The Mother, The Mechanic, and The Path, only 9.99 even though its 3 discs. You gotta respect that.

Romans 12

blows my mind. Everytime. Its the chapter that makes me want to follow God with a passion so strong that nothing will deter my thoughts or actions away. I think i should just start carrying this whole chapter around on a piece of paper and stick it in my pocket. not really...but seriously
